A Taste of Guilt

A short, humorous ad film created for One Planet to promote vegan awareness. It follows a man about to eat a hamburger when the burger suddenly speaks—warning him of its traumatic backstory. What starts as a joke spirals into a surreal flashback sequence, ending with a powerful, guilt-laced message. Shot at NID Ahmedabad, the film balances comedy with commentary.

Process

The idea behind this film was to create something funny and slightly absurd, yet capable of delivering a punch. Instead of guilt-tripping the viewer through brutal imagery or data, I used dark humor and narrative irony to make the message more approachable and memorable.

The story is simple: A guy is about to eat a hamburger when it suddenly talks back. Voiced by Shreyans Harsora, the burger starts preaching about its traumatic past—factory farming, slaughter, the whole deal. But the guy, played by Saurav Syam, shrugs it off and goes in for a bite anyway. That’s when he’s hit with a surreal vision sequence—a rapid-fire guilt trip from the burger’s point of view.

The movie was shot at the NID Ahmedabad canteen (BMW) with minimal gear and a handheld shooting style to keep things spontaneous. The tone was inspired by satirical food ads and sketch comedy, using everyday realism as a setup for something totally unexpected.
